Rosie
Wee Rosie arrived at Belfast Kitten Rescue in sad and sorry state back in March 2026. She’d been straying and as a long haired kitty that’s not ideal. She had developed some serious matting so poor Rosie had to endure a short back and sides, with some whiskers taking collateral damage.
When Rosie arrived at Kumiko Cat Lounge in early May she immediately claimed the best chair in the house and made herself at home. Rosie grew more confident as her hair and whiskers grew back. She enjoyed her food, some fun-times in the tunnel and of course endless attention, brushes and rubs, from the staff and customers alike. Rosie was the cat most likely to be hogged for a full hour by whoever sat next to her. She warmed a lot of hearts 🥰
When Desi saw Rosie featured on UTV Live, he immediately made an application to adopt her. She reminded him of his late cat Sadie, who sadly passed away at Christmas time last year. Desi visited Rosie at Kumiko and his mind was made up - a sense of belonging that had to be pursued.
And so, the first Kumiko Cat Lounge adoption story was written. Guided by Akai Ito—the Japanese red thread of fate believed to bind those destined to meet— Rosie and Desi found one another, just as they were always meant to 😻

Ava
Ava’s new family of four visited Kumiko Cat Lounge in our first weeks of opening and instantly fell in love with little Ava. And she fell in love with them. They came back for a second visit soon after and wow….we had ourselves a whole family of cat whisperers!
Ava wasn’t the only cat who fell in love with the Stewart family. Marvin’s famous love of the rainbow stick toy started with the Stewart family. After they left Marvin dragged that toy all the way up the stairs because he’d been having so much fun. And Marvin was only creeping slowly out of his shell at that stage.
So Ava has really hit the jackpot with her forever home. She even has a Japanese themed bed to enjoy, to remind her of her Kumiko roots!
Miss Ava we will miss you, but we are over the moon for you and thank you to the four Stewarts. May you enjoy many happy years together 😻
